RESO 1997-12 - Support CompetitionRESOLUTION OF SUPPORT: AN EQUITABLE TRANSITION TO COMPETITION PLAN SHOULD DEREGULATION OCCUR Every customer - large and small, commercial and residential - should benefit equally from competition in the electric power industry. Entergy is seeking to respond to a request by the Public Utility Commission by filing a transition to competition plan that ensures the benefits from competition are shared by all their customers including industrial, commercial, small businesses, and residential customers. The City of Huntsville supports the following principles which should be embodied in any action of the Texas Legislature. Should a deregulation act become law, these principles are set forth as follows: • An orderly transition plan issued by the Public Utility Commission to implement competition must maintain service reliability for all customers. • The transition to a competitive marketplace must be fair to all customers. • A orderly transition to competition must be of equal benefit to all customers. The current rate case pending before the Public Utility Commission of Texas must be resolved according to existing law.
