NO. 2010-59
WHEREAS H.B. Toney, born January 12,1916, was a dedicated firefighter who ably served the
City of Huntsville for many years; and
WHEREAS Chief Toney served the City as Fire Chief from November 1957 to November 1959,
and again from April to November 196o, and also as Fire Marshall from September
1964 until his death on March 23,1977; and
WHEREAS Chief Toney was voted Outstanding Firefighter in both 1957 and 1960; and
WHEREAS Chief Toney is the only Huntsville firefighter to have lost his life in the line of duty,
which occurred as a result of a fire in Riverside on February 23,1977, and
WHEREAS the H.B. Toney Memorial Fire Station #4 has been built on Chief Toney's former
homesite, ajust and fitting location for both it and the marble monument originally
erected in his honor at Fire Station #2 in 1997
