WHEREAS the Greater Zion Marching Drill Team Ministry was formed in 1995,
from the vision of Pastor Michael C. Davis, Sr., and has been under the
primary direction of Mr. Joe L Waddell since 1997; and
WHEREAS the Greater Zion Marching Drill Team is a unique ministry of young
people ages nine to 24 who minister through song and scripture while
performing drill routines; and
WHEREAS since 1995, the team has been a consistent participant in local and state
youth rallies and workshops, as well as local food drives and community
activities; and
WHEREAS the drill team has benefitted greatly from the leadership of Director Joe
L Waddell, AssistantDirectorMrs. Joreen Waddell, and Matrons Debra
Ross and Kathy Smith; and
WHEREAS the team has participated in nine National Sunday Church School and
Baptist Congress competitions, winning Mostlmproved in their Division
in 2000, and winning Superior ratings in several subsequent
competitions, most recently in Charlotte, North Carolina this year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE ITHEREBYPROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as
the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that:

in Huntsville, Texas, and encourage citizens to join in acknowledging
the achievements and stellar examples of these fine young people.
