W D'EREAS non- stranger and stranger rape and sexual assault affect women, children and
men of all racial, cultural and economic backgrounds, and sexual violence against
citizens continues at an alarming rate; and
WHEREAS women, children and men suffer multiple types of sexual violence that can be
devastating for not only the survivor, but also for the family and friends of the
survivor; and
UWEREA,S to prevent facture violation of our citizens, it is critical to foster greater public
awareness of the causes and effects of sexual violence, and to address this
problem on every level; and
HWEREAS important partnerships have been formed among criminal and juvenile justice
agencies, health providers, allied professionals and victim services to generate
greater public understanding of the issues surrounding sexual assault.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HER.EBYPROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me asManor
