WHEREAS
our community has been made a warmer and more welcoming place for
all due to the presence of Wes and Susan Sanders; and
WHEREAS
Wes and Susan have given their time and efforts to many local charitable
organizations and individuals through volunteerism, donations, and other
aid, and
WHEREAS
the Sanders have worked on all fourteen of the local Habitatfor Humanity
homes, and traveled around the worldforHabitatprojects; theypurchase
the groceries needed by the SAAFE House every week; both are extremely
active participants and leaders in the Walker County Master Gardener
Association; and
WHEREAS
the Sanders both serve in several capacities at the Wynne Home; Wes
accompanies Susan on her tasks to aid children as a CASA volunteer; both
are Lifetime Members of the Huntsville Public Library and Susan works
with the library's literacy program; and
WHEREAS
the Sanders have hosted foreign students from many countries in their
home over the years, developing friendships they still enjoy around the
world, and
WHEREAS
Wes provides free annual AARP Tax Preparation assistance, Susan
volunteers in the Gibbs Elementary science and gardening program, Wes
works with the Phoenix Commotion, and both are constantly searching for
ways to unobtrusively help and support the community and all those in
need, in ways great and small.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBYPROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as
Mayor of the
City of Huntsville, Texas that:
February 24, 2011
be declared: "Wes and Susan Sanders Day"
in the City of Huntsville, and encourage all citizens to recognize Wes and Susan
Sanders' contributions to our community.
