WHEREAS Michael C. Davis, Sr. was born on December 28, 1955, in Houston, Texas, to
Mrs. Gladys Davis Horton and the late James Earl Davis; and
WHEREAS Michael Davis was led to singing for the Lord at age 2, in "The Davis Trio,"
along with his siblings; to baptism at age 7; and to preaching his first
sermon at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Houston in 1982; and
W73EREAS on June 28,198o, Michael was married to his loving wife Deborah, and
together they have raised Michaelll, Marlon, Matthew, and Mark, and have
added their "daughter -in-love" Jasrna, to their family; and
WHEREAS Reverend Davis was called to pastor the Greater Zion Missionary Baptist
Church in April 1992, and built and relocated the congregation to its new
home in November 20o5; and
WHEREAS today, Reverend Davis'55M birthday is being celebrated by his family and
friends, who know him as a loving husband, wonderful father, coach,
mentor, spiritual counselor, and a strong, compassionate leader.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBYPROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as
Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:

be declared: "Reverend Michael C. Davis, Sr. Day"
in the City of Huntsville and call upon our citizens to join in the celebration of his
achievement and acknowledge his special contributions to our community.
