A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
REQUESTING THAT THE HUNTSVILLE BEAUTIFICATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
REVIEW AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE CITY COUNCIL WITH REGARD
TO ANY BEAUTIFICATION PROGRAMS OR OPPORTUNITIES PROPOSED BY THE
TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ( "TxDOT ") FOR STATE OR FEDERAL
HIGHWAYS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS;
AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council established the Huntsville Beautification Advisory Committee
to review and recommend beautification programs to the City Council; and
WHEREAS, several state and federal highways pass through the City of Huntsville; and
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation ( "TxDOT ") is the responsible entity
for constructing, maintaining, repairing, and improving state and federal highways within the city
limits of the City of Huntsville; and
WHEREAS, the city is desirous of making state and federal highways within Huntsville
attractive and to beautify the same; and
WHEREAS, TxDOT may request city input on beautification projects proposed by the State
or proposed by third parties with regard to state and federal roadways within the city; and
WHEREAS, the City of Huntsville wants to work with TxDOT to beautify these highways;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it appropriate to refer such requests for review and
recommendation to the Huntsville Beautification Advisory Committee; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
that:
SECTION 1: Any requests received by the City of Huntsville from the Texas Department of
Transportation ( "TxDOT ") for input and comments with regard to beautification projects or
opportunities involving state and federal highways within the City of Huntsville, Texas, shall be
referred to the Huntsville Beautification Advisory Committee for review and recommendation to the
City Council. In addition, the Huntsville Beautification Advisory Committee may evaluate and
propose beautification opportunities involving state and federal highways within the City to the City
Council for approval and subsequent submission to TxDOT.
Furthermore, the City and the Huntsville Beautification Advisory Committee request that
TxDOT include maximum opportunity for beautification in all of its plans for construction and
improvement of state and federal highways within and adjacent to the City and to inform the City
of its plans for beautifying said highways, to allow the City to review, comment and work with
TxDOT on such plans, and to notify the City of any grant or matching state funds available for
beautification projects on state and federal highways so that the beautification of such highways may
be maximized.
SECTION 2: That this Resolution shall become effective from and after the date of its
passage.
