RESOLUTION NO. 2015-10
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES PROGRAM
(TAP) GRANT THROUGH THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION; AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT AS THE CITY'S EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND
AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE IN ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE CITY'S
PARTICIPATION IN THE TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES PROGRAM GRANT

WHEREAS the City desires to develop a viable urban community,including decent housing and
a suitable living environment and expanding the economic opportunities,principally
for persons of low and moderate income;and

WHEREAS certain conditions exist which represent a threat to public safety;and
WHEREAS it is necessary and in the best interests of Huntsville to avail itself of the TxDOT
Transportation Alternative Program Grant;
NOW,THEREFORE,be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Huntsville,Texas,that:
SECTION 1: A Transportation Alternative Program application is hereby authorized to be filed
on behalf of the City and be placed in competition for funding.
SECTION 2: The requested amount of TAP funding of $2,981,606.00 includes installing
sidewalks on Lake Road (from Ridgeview West Apartments to Smither Drive) -
West side, Montgomery Road (from I-45 to Sam Houston Avenue) - Both sides,Sam
Houston Avenue(from Boettcher Drive to Lake Road)-Both sides.
SECTION 3: The City Council directs and designates the City Manager as the City's Chief
Executive Officer and Authorized Representative to act in all matters in connection
with this application and the City's participation in the Transportation Alternative
Program Grant
SECTION 4: The City commits itself, if funded by Transportation Alternative Program Grant, to
appropriate $596,321.00 as matching funds and as a demonstration of its local
support to the project
