RESO 2002-36 - Submit EDA GrantRESOLUTION NO. 2002-36 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLLE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZNG THE SUBMISSION OF AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION GRANT APPLICATION TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION IN THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE; AND AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TO ACT AS THE AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE IN ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN THIS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntsville desires to develop an economically sound community, by providing the infrastructure necessary to retain existing businesses, recruit new industries, and expand economic opportunities; and WHEREAS, the U. S. Department of Commerce provides Economic Development Assistance to support the construction and rehabilitation of essential infrastructure and development necessary to generate private sector jobs and investment; and WHEREAS, it is necessary and in the best interests of the City of Huntsville to apply for funding under the Economic Development Administration Assistance Program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS: That an Economic Development Administration Grant Application for Economic Development is hereby authorized to be filed on behalf of the City with the Economic Development Administration. 2. That the City's application for $1,000,000.00 of grant funds be placed in competition for funding for the construction of infrastructure in the Hwy 75 South area. That the City commits itself, if funded by the Economic Development Administration, to a matching contribution of $300,450. 4. That the City Council directs and designates the Director of Economic Development as the Authorized Representative to act in all matters pertaining to the application and the City's participation in this Economic Development Assistance Program.
