A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE,
TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CREATION OF AN ADDITIONAL FOREIGN
TRADE ZONE AS PART OF THE CITY OF LIBERTY'S FOREIGN TRADE
ZONE NUMBER 171; AUTHORIZING AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH
THE CITY OF LIBERTY FOR THE EXPANDED FOREIGN TRADE ZONE;
AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Liberty, Texas has created an approved Foreign Trade
Zone, City of Liberty Foreign Trade Zone No. 171; and
WHEREAS, the City of Huntsville desires to create one or more areas in the City
as a Foreign Trade Zone site in order to attract economic development; and
WHEREAS, the City of Liberty is willing to allow for the expansion of its
approved Foreign Trade Zone to certain areas within the City of Huntsville and the
expansion of the Liberty Foreign Trade Zone is a more efficient way for the City of
Huntsville to establish a Foreign Trade Zone within its City; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE,
TEXAS, that:
SECTION 1: The City authorizes the expansion of the City of Liberty's Foreign
Trade Zone, City of Liberty Foreign Trade Zone No. 171, into the City limits of the City
of Huntsville, Texas, and it does hereby authorize the City Manager or his designee to
negotiate an interlocal agreement with the City of Liberty setting out the terms,
conditions, and areas for the expansion of Liberty Foreign Trade Zone No. 171. In
addition, the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the interlocal agreement with
the City of Liberty on behalf of the City of Huntsville provided that the City Attorney has
approved said agreement.
SECTION 2: This Resolution becomes effective from and after the date of its
passage.
