A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
IN SUPPORT OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE VILLAGES AT HUNTSVILLE.
WHEREAS, Essex Villages LP proposes to build The Villages at Huntsville, a town home and
apartment community on approximately 18 acres located on Midway Drive and FM 247 in
Huntsville, Texas; and
WHEREAS, The Villages at Huntsville community will be comprised of a community center
building containing on-site management offices, residential activity areas, as well as 76 units; and
WHEREAS, The Villages at Huntsville community will consist of one, two and three bedroom
units, which will be beneficial to families, whose income is below the county's median income
level in the City of Huntsville; and
WHEREAS, Essex Villages, LP development application for The Villages at Huntsville
community will be submitted in the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs' 2005
Tax Credit round for Region 6.
WHEREAS, Because of Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs' housing needs
high score and the strong demand for affordable housing in the City of Huntsville, this
development should be supported by the City Council.
WHEREAS, Essex Villages, LP will become a member of the community of Huntsville and will
pay all city and county taxes.
WHEREAS, The City of Huntsville will agree to discount tap and connection fees up to the
maximum amount of $73,073.00 to be utilized as leverage as defined in the 2005 Qualified
Allocation Plan for Low Income Housing Tax Credits in the State of Texas. The financial
commitment will allow The Villages community to score high points.
WHEREAS, The City Council of Huntsville aggress to support a plan of action to facilitate a
financial commitment to reach said goal.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE:
That the City Council finds that Tejas Housing and Development, Inc. has the historical
experience in developing high quality affordable communities for the City of Huntsville.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the City Council offers its full support to the proposed
The Villages at Huntsville community, including financial commitment. In addition, the City
Council supports the efforts to receive an allocation from the Texas Department of Housing and
Community affairs for Low Income Housing tax Credits in 2005.
