AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, EXEMPTING LIMOUSINE AND FIXED ROUTE
TRANSPORTATION SERVICES FROM TAXICAB REGULATIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, that:
Section 1: Chapter 16, Taxicabs, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Huntsville, Texas, is hereby amended by the adoption of a new Section
16 -5 that shall read as follows:
Section 16 -5. Other Services not regulated
(a) Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to regulate a
limousine service or van service which provides transportation for
hire, not over fixed route, by means of a limousine, extended
limousine, or van operated by chauffeurs, on the basis of telephone
contract, written contract, or other prearrangement. No vehicle
permitted as a taxicab may be operated as a limousine.
(b) Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to regulate a transit
system operation which provides transportation for hire over a fixed
route.
Section 2: This ordinance shall take effect immediately after its passage.
