ORD 1987-35 - Speed Limits 11th Street Hwy-30 11-10-1987ORDINANCE NO. 87 -35 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 12, MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC, OF ITS CODE OF ORDINANCES BY ALTERING SPEED LIMIT ZONES ALONG HIGHWAY 30 WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS; PROVIDING A PENALTY OF UP TO $200 A DAY FOR CERTAIN VIOLATIONS; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED THERETO; AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, THAT: ti Section 1: The following described curb zones and areas are designated as Speed Limit Zones: Street Name 11th Street (Hwy 30) Speed Limit 50 mph Direction E & W 45 mph E &W 40 mph E &W 35 mph 30 mph 35 mph 45 mph 50 mph E &W E & W E & W E & W Limits from .4 miles to .2 miles west of the I -45 west feeder road. from .2 miles to 100 feet west of the I -45 west feeder road. from 100 feet west of the I -45 west feeder road to 900' west of Avenue Q. 900' west of Avenue Q to Avenue Q. Avenue Q to Avenue E. Avenue E to 200' west of avenue C. 200' west of Avenue C to School Road. E & W School Road to SH 19. Section 2: Schedule V, Speed Limit Zones, of Chapter 12, Motor Vehicles and Traffic, of the Code of Ordinance of the City of Huntsville, Texas, shall be revised to reflect the amendments made by this Ordinance. Section 3: The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to cause the posting of proper signs along the above described streets and parking zones. Section 4: It shall be unlawful for any driver of a vehicle to disobey the instructions of the signs placed in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance, unless at the time otherwise directed by a Police Officer. Section 5: Any person, firm, or corporation violating any provisions of this Ordinance or failing to comply with any requirement of this Ordinance will be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a fine of up to Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) upon conviction. Each day during or upon which said person shall violate or continue violation of any provision of this Ordinance or non - compliance with any requirement of this Ordinance shall constitute a distinct and separate offense. The violation of any provision of this Ordinance or the failure to comply with any requirement of this Ordinance shall each constitute a distinct and separate offense. Section 6: If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this Ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision and such holding shall not affect any of the remaining provisions of this Ordinance. Section 7: All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed; provided, however, that such repeal shall be only to the extent of such inconsistency and in all other respects this ordinance shall be cumulative of other Ordinances regulating and governing the subject matter covered by this Ordinance. Section 8: The City Secretary is hereby directed to cause the caption of this Ordinance to be published at least twice within ten days of final passage.
