ORD 1987-04 - Renaming a Portion of Ave F as Ave F & Martin Luther King Drive 02-17-1987ORDINANCE NO. 87 -4 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, RENAMING AND REDESIGNATING A PORTION OF AVENUE F BETWEEN 11TH STREET AND 1ST STREET AS AVENUE F AND MARTIN LUTHER KING DRIVE; AND MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED THERETO. WHEREAS the City of Huntsville wishes to respond to a citizen's request to name a street in memory of Martin Luther King; and WHEREAS the area of Avenue F between llth Street and FM 2821 is the historical access to Emancipation Park and has been recently rebuilt to modern standards and opended as a through street that connects two major traffic arteries of the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that: Section 1: Section 2: Section 3: The street known as Avenue F between llth Street and 1st Street be renamed, redesignated and called "Avenue F" and "Martin Luther King Drive." The City Manager is hereby directed to erect or cause to be erected appropriate street signs to reflect the name change. This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after passage.
