WHEREAS the City of Huntsville encourages citizens and businesses to recycle materials
through a variety of mixed-media products and public outreach, events such as E-Recycling
Day, and the existing Recycling Drop-Off Center; and
WHEREAS the City of Huntsville conducted a Curbside Recycling Pilot for six months in 2010
which had a 62% citizen participation rate and diverted 99.78 tons of materials from the
landfill; and
WHEREAS in 2010, the City was honored to receive an H-GAC Solid Waste Implementation
— Source Reduction and Recycling Grant, funded by Houston-Galveston Area Council and the
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality; and
WHEREAS this grant of $190,000, the City was able to purchase additional blue recycling
carts and construct this $13o,000 Recycling Expansion Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in
me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:

in the City of Huntsville and call upon our citizens to join in the celebration of this special addition
to our community.
