ORD 1999-28 - Correct Ordinance 99-24 10-26-1999ORDINANCE NO. 99 -28 AN ORDINANCE CORRECTING ORDINANCE 99 -24 ADOPTING THE TAX RATE AND LEVYING TAXES FOR THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE FOR THE ENSUING FISCAL YEAR UPON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY LOCATED WITHIN AND SUBJECT TO TAXATION IN THE CITY; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Ordinance 99 -24 on September 21,1999, adopting the tax rate and levying taxes for the ensuing fiscal year; and WHEREAS, the overall tax rate of NO AND 41.25/100 ($0.4125) DOLLARS for each one hundred dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation was correct in Ordinance No. 99 -24, but the apportionment among funds was incorrect and did not match the apportioned amounts advertised; and WHEREAS, the Ordinance needs to state the correct apportioned amounts as advertised; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, that: SECTION 1: There is levied and assessed and shall be collected for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2000, an ad valorem tax of NO AND 41.25/100 ($0.4125) DOLLARS for each ONE HUNDRED ($100.00) DOLLARS of assessed value of property located within the city limits of Huntsville, Texas, on January 1, 1999, made taxable by law, which when collected, shall be apportioned among funds and departments of the city government of the City of Huntsville for these purposes: General Fund Operations $0.27609 Debt Service for Payment of General Obligation Indebtedness 0.13641 $0.41250 SECTION 2: All property upon which a tax is levied shall be assessed on the basis of 100 percent of its appraised value. Property Tax Code § 26.02. SECTION 3: This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage by City Council and be retroactive to September 21, 1999.
