AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE
OF HUNTSVILLE, Tia:XAS, AND CREATING ViAFD NO.
EiJ ,RGENCY

47 AND DECLARING AN
'HEREAS, by election previously had and by ordinance
enacted September 6, 1949, of record in Volume H, page 590, of
the _Minutes of the City Council of the City of Huntsville, Tex-
as, the territory described therein was added to and became a
part of the City of Huntsville, Texas, and the corporate limits
of said city ,vere extended, as therein described; and,
V-EEREAS, by reason thereof, additional territory was
added to the North, Fast, South and `:est of the previous corporate
limits of said city, which added territory has not been assigned
to and designated as a part of any of the wards of the city, and
':,HEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is
necessary and for the good of the inhabitants of the City of Hunts-
ville that such added territory be designated as a part of exist-
ing wards and /or created into an additional ward, as hereinafter
provided, so as, so far as practical, to equalize the number of
voters in the respective wards;
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINLD BY ThE CI" COUNCIL Ora THE CITY
OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: That .ard No. 1 shall contain and include all
Of that portion of the City of Huntsville lying '_' North of the North
line of Eleventh Street and the extension. thereof westward along
the North line of Highway 45 to the rest corporate limits, and
Eastward along the North line of Highway 45 to the East corporate
limits.
SECTION 2: That ",ard No. 2 shall contain and include all
of that portion of the City of Huntsville lying aouth of the South
line of Ward No. 1 and North of the North line of Seventeenth Street
and the extension thereof 11"esterly to the 'rtest corporate limits and
Easterly to the East corporate limits.
SECTION 3: Yard No. 3 shall contain and include all of
that portion of the City of Huntsville lying between the South
line of 1'vard No. 2 and the South line of the corporate limits of
the City of Huntsville, as existing prior to the extension on
September 6, 1949, aforesaid, and the Eastward extension of such
old South corporate limits to the.E.ast corporate limits and the
Restward extension to the Vest corporate limits.
SECTION 4: 1,ard No. 4 shall contain and include all of
that portion of the City of Huntsville lying South of the South
line of 1`,ard No. 3.
SECTION 5: The fact that the Melded territory of the cor-
porate limits of the City of Huntsville had not been designated and
assigned to any of the existing wards and the adrition of such
territory placed an unepual number of electors or voters in the
respective wards creates a public necessity and emergency, and this

ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval
by the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas, and it is so en-
acted.
