ORD CC 06/03/1947 - tax levy & poll tax for 1947AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES UPON TAXABLE PROPERTY LOCATED WITHIN AND SUBJECT TO TAXATION IN THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS INCLUDING A POLL TAX ON ABLE BODIED CITIZENS OVER THE AGE OF TWENTY -ONE, YEARS, AND NOT OVER SIXTY YEARS OF AGE ON THE FIRST DAY OF JANUARY, 19yj, AND ALSO INCLUDING OCCUPATION TAXES, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENGY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE IN COUNCIL ASSEMBLED: Section One: That there is hereby levied, for the current year on all real property situated and all personal property owned within the limits of said City of Huntsville, Texas, on the first day of January, 19 , exeept so much as may be excepted under the constitution and Laws of this State of the United States, the following taxes. (1) An ad volorem tax of and at the rate of b Ogr) �O.& o) cents on the One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars cash value thereof, estimated in lawful currency of the United States for the current expenses for the support and maintenance of the City Goverment of said City of Huntsville, Texas. (2) An ad valorem tax of and at the rate of i..,J) $D.YJ f on the One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) cash value thereof, estimated in lawful currency of the United States, to pay current interest on and provide one Year's sinking fund and to pay all of the principal and interest aocuring on all outstanding warrants, sewerage, bonds, paving bonds, Funding Warrants, Sewer Ectensions, Improvement Bonds and Warrants, City Hall and Fire Station Warrants and any and all other bonds and Warrants outstanding heretofrom lawfully issued by the City of Huntsville, Texas, and which are new lavid outstanding obligations of the said City of Huntsville, Texas. (3) An annual ad valorem tax of and at the rate ofA, cents on the One Hundred Dollars cash value thereof, estimated in lawful currency of the United States, for the purpose of the support and maintenance of the Fire Department authorized by law at an election held thereunder and the ordinance of the City of Huntsville, Texas pursuant thereto. (4) An occupation tax on all persons, firms, and corporations doing business within the City of Huntsville, Texas, wqual to one -half of that provided by law for occupation tax due and payable to the States of Texas, and including all amendments of Article 7047 of the Revised Statutes of 1925, and other-amendments thereto. (5) A poll tax of one ($1.00) Dollar on every inhabitant of said City of Huntsville, Texas over the age of Twenty -One (21) years and not over sixty (60) years of age on the first day of January. Section Two: The above and foregoing ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
