ORD 2000-19 - Add - Amend City Code 09-26-2000ORDINANCE NO. 2000-19
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, ADDING A NEW
PROVISION IN PART 9.02 OF THE CITY CODE WITH REGARD TO VALUATIONS
FOR BUILDING PERMITS; AMENDING THE SWIMMING POOL PERMIT FEE IN
PART 9.02.05; AND AMENDING THE LICENSE FEES FOR JOURNEYMAN AND
MASTER ELECTRICIAN IN PART 11.01; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE;
AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, a review of the fees charged by the City with regard swimming pool permits
and journeyman and master electrician licenses should be raised in order to offset the costs in
administering these matters; and
WHEREAS, the method for valuating construction for purposes of assessing permit fees
should be defined; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
that:
SECTION 1: Title 9 "Building and Building Regulations," Part 19.02 "Building Codes,"
Section 9.02.02 "Standard Building Code," Subsection 10 ("Schedule of Permit Fees") is hereby
amended by adding a new a.8) "Permit Fees" which shall hereinafter read as follows:
8) Valuations of commercial and residential structures shall be based upon
the value submitted by the developeribuilder or the value of the appropriate
construction type shown on the most recent SBCCI Building Valuation
Data Sheet, whichever is greater.
SECTION 2: Title 9 "Building and Building Regulations," Part 19.02 "Building Codes,"
Section 9.02.05 "Standard Swimming Pool Code," Subsection 10 ("Final Inspection; Enclosure
Required; Operating Permit Required") is hereby amended by amending sub-Subsection c. to
increase the operating permit inspection fee from thirty dollars ($30.00) to thirty-six dollars ($36.00).
SECTION 3: Title 11 "Electricity," Part 11.01 "In General," Subsection 11.01.08
"Application, examination for, issuance, renewal and revocation of certificates; fees" is hereby
amended by amending sub-Subsections D., F., and G. as follows:

a. The annual registration fee for a journeyman electrician as stated in sub-Subsection D.
be increased from ten dollars ($10.00) to twelve dollars ($12.00);
b. The annual registration fee for a master electrician certificate as stated in sub-Subsection
F. shall be increased from fifty dollars ($50.00) to sixty dollars ($60.00); and
c. The annual registration fee for an electrical sign manufacturer's certificate as stated in sub-
Subsection G. shall be increased from forty dollars ($40.00) to forty-eight dollars ($48.00).
SECTION 4: If any portion of this Ordinance shall, for any reason, be declared invalid by
any court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining provisions hereof
and the City Council determines that it would have adopted this Ordinance without the invalid
provision.
SECTION 5: This Ordinance shall take effective immediately from and after the date of its
passage, but the increased fees adopted by this Ordinance shall become effective on October 1, 2000.
