ORD CC 06/01/1943 - tax levy & poll tac for 1943VW v4w AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES UPON TAXABLE PROPERTY LOCA "iED WITHIN AND SUBJECT TO TAXATION IN THE CITY OF HUNTSVIILE, TEX S INCLUDING A POLL TAX ON ABLE BODIED CITIZENS OVER THE AGE OF TWENTY -ONE, YEARS, AND NOT OVER SIXTY YF,ARS OF AGE ON THE FIRST DAY OF JANUARY, 1943, AND ALSO INCLUDING OCCUPATION TAXES, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE IN COUNCIL ASSEMBLED: Section One: That there is hereby levied, for the current year on all real property situated and all personal property owned within the limits of said City of Huntsville, Texas, on the first day of January, 1943, except so much as may be excepted under the constitution and Laws of this State of the United States, the following taxes. (1) An ad valorem tax of and at the rate of 5Wi)$,5-Vjcents on the One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars cash value thereof, estemated in lawful currency of the Unit d States for the current expenses for the su,port and maintenance of the City Government of said City of Huntsville, Texas. (2) An ad valorem tax of and at the rate ofl � )$ L )on the One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) cash value thereof', estimated in lawful currency of the United States, to pay currant interest on and provide on a Year's sinking fund and to pa-, all of the pri.cipal and interest accuring on all outstanding warrants, sewerage, bonds, paving bonds, Funding Warrants, Sewer Ectensions, Improvement Bonds and Warrants, City Hall and Fire Station Warrants and any and all other bonds and Warrants outstanding heretoffom lawfully issued by the City of Huntsville, Texas, and which are new lavid outstanding obligations of the said City of hugtsvi le, Texas. (3) An annual ad valorem tax of and at the rate of.05 )$.05 ) cents on the One Hundred Dollars cash value thereof, estimated in lawful currency of the United States, for the purp,,se of the support and maintenance of the Fire Department authrrized by law at an election held thereunder and the ordiaa.nce of the City of Huntsville, Texas pursuant thereto. (4) An occupation tax on all persons, firms, and corporations doing business within the City of Huntsville, Texas, equal to one -half of that pro -tided by law for occupation tax due and payable to the State of Texas, acid including all amendments of Article 7047 of the Revised Statutes of 1925, and other amendments thereto. (5) A poll tax of one ($1.00) Dollar on every inhabitant of said City of Huntsville, Texas ever the age of Twenty -One (21) years andnot over sixty (60) years of age on the first day of January. -Section Two: The above and forego�n; ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passae and approval. The foregoing ordinance was referred to the Finance Committee on open council at the regular recessed mebting of the City Couci1 held on the L —day of 1943. Mayor We, the Finance Committee, to whom the above and foregoirg Ordinance was referred, have duly considred the same, recommend thatthe dagd foregoing ordinance, levying taxes for the year 1943, be adapted.
