AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, RENAMING
AND REDESIGNATING AVENUE H BETWEEN 15TH STREET AND
AVENUE I AS BOBBY K. MARKS DRIVE; AND MAKING OTHER
FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED THERETO.
WHEREAS, Bobby K. Marks has been an integral part of Sam Houston State University
for 41 years; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Marks has served the last six years as President of Sam Houston State
University; and
WHEREAS, While serving as President of Sam Houston State University, Dr. Marks was
instrumental in forming several partnerships with the City of Huntsville; and
WHEREAS, The City of Huntsville would like to recognize Dr. Marks for his service to
Sam Houston State University and the community at large;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, that:
SECTION 1: The street known as Avenue H between 151 Street and Avenue I be renamed,
redesignated and called "Bobby K. Marks Drive."
SECTION 2: The City Manager is hereby directed to erect or cause to be erected appropriate
street signs to reflect the name change.
SECTION 3: This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage.
