ORD 2002-12 - Rename MLK & Murray Streets 06-18-2002ORDINANCE NO. 2002 -12
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, RENAMING AND
REDESIGNATING AVENUE F BETWEEN 13TH STREET AND F.M. 2821 AS
MARTIN LUTHER KING, 3R. DRIVE AND REDESIGNATING MAGNOLIA
STREET AS MURRAY LANE; AND MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND
PROVISIONS RELATED THERETO.
WHEREAS the City Engineer has recommended changing various street addresses in the City in
order to facilitate mapping and emergency response to the residents and businesses
of the City; and
WHEREAS the City Council believes that it is in the interest of the public's health, safety and
welfare to have a consistent and reliable addressing of businesses and residences in
the City; now, therefore:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, that:
Section 1: The street known as Avenue F between 13th Street and F.M. 2821 be renamed,
redesignated and called Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, and the street known as
Magnolia Street be renamed, redesignated and called Murray Lane.
Section 2: The City Engineer is directed to amend all City maps to incorporate the changes
adopted by this ordinance.
Section 3: The City Manager is directed to change all street signs to incorporate the changes
adopted by this ordinance.
Section 4: This ordinance shall take effect immediately.
