AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION
3.04.02 A. OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT FROM
$15,000 TO $25,000; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Texas Legislature amended the Texas Local Government Code to increase
the amount of contract requiring a competitive bid from $15,000.00 to $25,000.00; and
WHEREAS, Section 3.04.02 of the City Code has not been changed to reflect the change in
State law; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
that:
SECTION 1: Title 3 "Administration," Part 3.04 "Purchasing Procedures" is hereby amended
to amend Section 3.04.02 A. "Contracts approved by council" to hereinafter read as follows:
Section 3.04.02 Contracts approved by council.
A. All contracts for expenditures involving twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) or
more must be expressly approved in advance by the City Council.
SECTION 2: If any portion of this Ordinance shall, for any reason, be declared invalid by
any court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining provisions hereof
and the City Council determines that it would have adopted this Ordinance without the invalid
provision.
SECTION 3: This Ordinance shall take effective immediately from and after the date of its
passage.
