AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 9, "BUILDINGS AND BUILDING
REGULATIONS," OF THE HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, MUNICIPAL CODE TO ADD
LANGUAGE TO PROVIDE FOR AN AMENDMENT TO THE INTERNATIONAL
RESIDENTIAL CODE, 2000 EDITION, PREVIOUSLY ADOPTED BY REFERENCE
AS THE RESIDENTIAL CODE OF THE CITY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, that:
Section 1: Section 9.02.09, entitled "International residential code" of Title 9, 'Buildings and Building
Regulations," of the Huntsville, Texas, Municipal Code is hereby amended to add the following subsection:
13. R309.2 is hereby amended to read:
R309.2 Separation Required. The garage shall be separated from the residence and its attic
area by not less than % inch (12.7 mm) gypsum board from the floor to the roof deck applied
to the garage side or from the floor to the ceiling of the garage with the garage ceiling being
covered with not less than 5/8 inch fire code gypsum board. Where the separation is a
floor /ceiling assembly, the structure supporting the separation shall also be protected by not
less than 5/8 inch fire code gypsum board as equivalent.
Section 2: This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after the date of its passage.
