PROCLAMATION NO. 2009-25
WHEREAS Justin Ryan Smith began the Eagle Trail in 1997 when he joined Pack 878, Den 2 in
Spring, Texas as a first-grade student; and
WHEREAS After achieving the Arrow of Light, Justin joined Troop 878 at the First United
Methodist Church in Spring and later joined Troop 114 when he moved to Huntsville
in 2002; and
WHEREAS Justin earned over 27 merit badges, of which he said he learned the most from
Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation and Citizenship in the
World; and
WHEREAS Justin’s experience on the Eagle Trail has taken him all over Texas and to Canada,
Minnesota, Mississippi, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, Georgia and
Virginia; and
WHEREAS Justin finally reached the level of Eagle Scout in March of 2009.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as
Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
AUGUST 23. 2009
be declared:
“JUSTIN RYAN SMITH DAY”
in the City of Huntsville and urge all residents to join together in honor of a fine
citizen, young man and Eagle Scout.
