August Library Events
Verd'ika Corps, A Mandalorian adventure based off the Star Wars universe
On August 4th at 4:00 PM, the Huntsville Public Library welcomes the return of the Star Wars Costume Club:
Mandalorian Meres who will host a new kind of space adventure for children aged 4-18 years, called Verd'ka
Corps. Based on the Mandalorian culture and characters found in Star Wars, the club invites cadets to join as
an intergalactic training sergeant in fun challenges and training exercises. Additionally, the children will create
their own original Mandalorian characters, complete with costume. The battalians will continue to meet once a
month on the first Monday of every month at 4 PM throughout the year. For more information call the library at

Teens Onlyll- Go Animate
In conjunction with the Teen Summer Reading Program and the computer animation workshops at the library, the
Huntsville Public Library would like to remind teens that the deadline for submitting original animated videos is
Thursday August 7th. All teens who created a GoAnimate.com account through the public library are invited to
submit their work to be judged for prizes and shown at the Huntsville Public Library Film Festival happening on

Story Hour at the Library
The Huntsville Public Library hosts Story Hour every Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. at the library. This complimentary
program promotes emergent reading skills for young children. Story Hour includes stories, songs, dance and
finger plays and concludes with a craft activity. The theme for August 13th will be "Ready for School... Ready

Family Movie Night Series
Huntsville Public Library in partnership with Texas Children's Health Plan is offering a free monthly family night
movie. August will feature a newly released most wanted puppet movie on Thursday, July 10th at 5:30 PM. All
movies are rated PG or G. Popcorn, snacks and drinks will be provided. For specific titles or more information

Back to School Bash:
The Huntsville Public Library is proud to announce the 2nd Annual Back to School Bash brought to the
community by Texas Children's Health Plan on Wednesday August 20th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the
community room. Kids and parents can have fun at various activity booths, educate themselves on health and
nutrition, receive free dental and health screenings and much more! School-aged children who attend will also
receive a free backpack with school supplies while supplies last. Please bring a report card or enrollment form to

Story Hour at the Library
