ORD 2009-58 - Highway 30 Speed Limits 09-15-2009ORDINANCE NO. 2009-58 AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO SPEED ZONES WHICH SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATES ADDITIONAL AREAS IN THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE IN WHICH RATES OF SPEED OF THIRTY (30) MILES PER HOUR OR MORE ARE AUTHORIZED; RESCINDING ALL PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING THAT ATTENDANT FACTS NECESSITATE IMMEDIATE ACTION. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, that: SECTION I. That any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances relating to speed zones on SH 30 in the City of HUNTSVILLE are hereby rescinded, and the following are additional specifically designated areas in which a rate of speed of thirty (30) miles per hour or more is authorized. A.) SH 30, for traffic moving in an easterly direction for 1.265 miles, from the Huntsville west city limit, the speed limit shall be sixty (60) miles per hour. For the next 0.200 miles, the speed limit shall be fifty -five (55) miles per hour. For the next 0.200 miles, the speed limit shall be forty -five (45) miles per hour. For the next 1.095 miles, the speed limit shall be forty (40) miles per hour. For the next 1.149 miles, the speed limit shall be thirty-five (35) miles per hour. For the next 0.235 miles, the speed limit shall be forty -five (45) miles per hour. For the next 1.753 miles, the speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles per hour. For the next 0.319 miles, to the Huntsville east city limit, the speed limit shall be fifty -five (55) miles per hour. B.) SH 30, for traffic moving in a westerly direction for 0.319 miles, from the Huntsville east city limit, the speed limit shall be fifty -five (55) miles per hour. For the next 1.753 miles, the speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles per hour. For the next 0.235 miles, the speed limit shall be forty-five (45) miles per hour. For the next 1.149 miles, the speed limit shall be thirty-five (35) miles per hour. For the next 1.095 miles, the speed limit shall be forty (40) miles per hour. For the next 0.200 miles, the speed limit shall be forty-five (45) miles per hour. For the next 0.200 miles, the speed limit shall be fifty -five (55) miles per hour. For the next 0.389 miles, to the Huntsville west city limit, the speed limit shall be sixty (60) miles per hour. SECTION II: WHEREAS, the preservation of the general welfare of the public necessitates immediate action, this Ordinance shall be effective from and after the date of its passage as provided by the Charter of the City of Huntsville.
