AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, DIRECTING THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A GREENBELT PLAN AND INITIATIVE
WHEREAS, Huntsville desires to be a more attractive and beautiful city;
WHEREAS, green space and belts of natural vegetation are a great benefit;
WHEREAS, green space and greenbelts enhance the quality of life;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, that:
Section 1. The development code shall be amended to require that new developments
retain and maintain significant green space along all public road frontages..
Section 2. The City Manager and staff are hereby directed to:
a. Prepare or have prepared an appropriate amendment to the
development code for presentation to the Planning and Zoning
Commission within 90 days; and
b. Prepare or have prepared within 60 days a proposal for providing an
incentive to any who retroactively establish and maintain green spacfe
in accordance with the amendment.
