AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
DIRECTING IMPLEMENTATION OF A PILOT PROGRAM FOR
CURBSIDE RECYCLING.
WHEREAS, Recycling will reduce waste, lessen the burden of hauling garbage to
landfills, reduce landfill usage, and increase the quality of life in Huntsville; and
WHEREAS, The City of Huntsville would like to implement a viable recycling program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1: The City Manager and staff are hereby directed to:
a. Select an area for a pilot recycling program,
b. Establish a curbside pick up recycling plan for the pilot area and
submit it for approval to Council within 30 days from this date,
and
C. Begin the pilot program within 30 days thereafter.
d. Use prison labor to reduce cost if practicable.
Section 2: The Pilot Program shall continue until such time as the City Council and
Staff can assess city -wide implementation.
