Kristin Edwards<kedwards@huntsvilletx.gov> Fri, May 2, 2014 at 9:16 AM Bcc: council@huntsvilletx.gov FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - SHSU - Slide on Channel 7, please Huntsville Item - Please add to Best Bets as appropriate Thank you, Kristin Edwards, TRMC Deputy City Secretary All citizens are encouraged to attend the installation of a Little Free Library at the Huntsville Aquatic Center this Thursday, May 8 beginning at 4:30 p.m. According to Vinessa Mundorff, Youth Advisory Board chair, this attraction —a book receptacle that will be continuously filled and refreshed by Huntsville residents —will be of great benefit to the community. "The Youth Advisory Board has worked diligently to bring a Little Free Library to our city, and we're so excited to be the stewards of this opportunity," Mundorff said. "The way the Little Free Library works is simple—and the books are always free! "YAB will initially stock the LFL with a variety of quality books, and then citizens may stop by and take whatever seems interesting. Then, when those books are returned, readers are asked to donate another new or used book to contribute so the process may continue." Since its establishment in 2010, the LFL movement has taken hold both throughout the U.S. and in dozens of other countries. "There are so many advantages to having a Little Free Library in our community," Mundorff said. "It will not only promote literacy and a love of reading, but it will also foster a sense of community and connection between readers. Don't miss our installation ceremony!"
