Proclamation No. 2023-28
WHEREAS Johnnie Jo Sowell Dickenson a professional genealogist who has educated and mentored hundreds of individuals in genealogy through authorship of books and courses taught throughout
the state; and
WHEREAS Johnnie Jo Sowell Dickenson and the Walker County Genealogical Society has supported the Huntsville Public Library and the community since 1967; and
WHEREAS Johnnie Jo Sowell Dickenson served as the president of the Walker County Genealogical Society from 1995-2005 and again from 2018-2022. Johnnie Jo also continues providing services
by serving as the Second Librarian on the Walker County Genealogical Society Board; and
WHEREAS Johnnie Jo Sowell Dickenson has impacted the Huntsville community so greatly that the genealogy room inside of the Huntsville Public Library has been named in her honor; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Andy Brauninger, Mayor of Huntsville, Texas.
DO HEREBY PROCLAIM the 20th Day of October as
