Proclamation No. 2023-19
WHEREAS, Good Shepherd Mission, a nonprofit organization founded in 1983, celebrates 40 years of serving the Huntsville and Walker County area; and
WHEREAS, Good Shepherd Mission, strives to meet basic human needs through feeding, clothing, sheltering, counseling, and changing lives for the good based upon New Testament teaching
of Jesus Christ; and
WHEREAS, Good Shepherd Mission, has provided over 8,583 meals in 2023 and over 585,666 meals throughout their 40 years of service; and
WHEREAS, Good Shepherd Mission, maintains a thrift store for affordable clothing in our community as well as providing free clothing vouchers to those in need, giving about 6,500 articles
of clothing away monthly; and
WHEREAS, Good Shepherd Mission, offers an environment to help jump start a successful transition into a self-sufficient lifestyle, by providing financial classes, abuse recovery programs,
and counseling services.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Andy Brauninger, Mayor of Huntsville Texas, on this 5th day of July 2023, extend this Proclamation with sincere congratulations and recognition to the
GOOD SHEPHERD MISSION – 40 YEARS OF SERVING THE HUNTSVILLE COMMUNITY
