Proclamation No. 2023-18
WHEREAS, Sam Houston State University, a distinguished institution of higher learning, has recently achieved being invited to join the Conference USA; and
WHEREAS, Sam Houston’s Conference USA membership is a testament to the institution’s dedication to student athletic success, academic excellence, campus community, and the City of Huntsville;
and
WHEREAS, Sam Houston will provide its student-athletes with enhanced opportunity to further their abilities and showcase their talents through their entrance into the Conference USA;
and
WHEREAS, Sam Houston’s achievements foster a sense of pride and solidarity through the fellow alumni who reside in the region and in the City of Huntsville; and
WHEREAS, Sam Houston joining Conference USA will bring a heightened level of excitement, camaraderie, and competitive spirit to the City of Huntsville
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Andy Brauninger, Mayor of Huntsville Texas,
DO HEREBY CONGRATULATE AND PROCLAIM JULY 1, 2023, as
SHSU JOINING CONFERENCE USA
