MINUTES OF THE HUNTSVILLE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON THE 24TH DAY OF JUNE, 2008, IN THE CITY
HALL, LOCATED AT 1212 AVENUE M IN THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, COUNTY OF WALKER, TEXAS AT 5:OOPM.
The Council met in a special session with the following:
COUNCILMEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor J. Turner, Wayne Barrett, Tom Cole, Charles Forbus, Melissa Mahaffey, Lanny Ray,
Mac Woodward, Dalene Zender
COUNCILMEMBERS ABSENT: Clarence Griffin
OFFICERS PRESENT: Gene Pipes, Interim City Manager; Thomas Leeper, City Attorney; Stephanie Brim, City Secretary
CALL TO ORDER [5:OOpm]
Mayor Turner called the meeting to order.
SPECIAL SESSION
City Council conducted a special session to discuss and provide direction towards the development of the FY 2008 -09 budget.
Some common areas of interest among Councilmembers included debt reduction, hotel -motel taxfunds use, sidewalks, and
economic development. Each Councilmember was given the opportunity to express their opinions on budgetary issues, giving
staff some ideas in formulating the FY2008 -09 budget, although no formal directions were given nor action taken.
