Ordinance 2013-37 - Redistricting Council wards ORDINANCE NO. 2013-37 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, AMENDING ORDINANCE 2011-47, REDISTRICTING COUNCIL WARDS BY THE ADDITION AND DELETION OF CERTAIN PROPERTIES; AND PROVIDING THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. WHEREAS Article IV of the City Charter provides that City be divided into four wards until the City is redistricted by Ordinance of the City Council; and WHEREAS the City Council determined it appropriate to redistrict the City based upon the 2010 Census and did so on August 22, 2011 with the adoption of Ordinance 2011-47; WHEREAS Walker County officials have moved the area described in "Exhibit A" (that contains no residents or residential structures) to County Commissioner Precinct 2, with the intent of using a structure in the area as a polling place for County election precinct 201; WHEREAS it has been recommended that the City of Huntsville move the area from Council Ward One to Council Ward Two to aid in the establishment of County election precincts and reduce the potential for voting errors; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, that: Section 1: The area described in "Exhibit A" is hereby redistricted from Council Ward one to Council Ward Two. Section 2: This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption. First reading: August 20, 2013 PASSED AND APPROVED this the 3rd day of September 2013.
