A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, IN SUPPORT OF
UPDATING THE TITLE AND DUTIES OF THE DEPUTY CITY SECRETARY OF THE CITY
OF HUNTSVILLE
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Huntsville states that "The City Secretary shall appoint such assistants as
may be authorized by the Council"; and
WHEREAS, the position of Deputy City Secretary is an established employee position hired under the direction
of the City Manager in the manner of all non-Charter employees of the City; and
WHEREAS, Kristin Edwards was promoted to the position of Deputy City Secretary in 2009; and
WHEREAS, the title and duties of Public Information Officer were reassigned to the City Secretary of the City of
Huntsville in 2009; and
WHEREAS, Kristin Edwards has shown herself to be highly talented and effective in undertaking public
information assignments and projects.
NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE,
TEXAS,THAT:
Section 1. The City Council hereby authorizes the appointment of Kristin Edwards by the City
Secretary to be and to perform as the Deputy City Secretary.
Section 2. In recognition of her additional efforts and performance on issues of public information,
Ms. Edwards'job title shall now include Assistant Public Information Officer.
Section 3. The meeting at which this resolution was approved was in all things conducted in strict
compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act,Texas Government Code, Chapter 551.
Section 4. This resolution shall become effective from and after its passage.
