According to Linda Pease, Cultural Services Coordinator, most events are free to the public and promise to offer a fun, festive start to the holiday season. “The Wynne Home-sponsored events contribute to the three-day weekend in Huntsville for the Holidays,” Pease said. “We’ll start off with a Gingerbread House contest and exhibit from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 6, which will be a great opportunity for local families and visitors to see the Gingerbread wonderland exhibit and take part in a tasty, fun tradition of refreshments and making Christmas crafts. “On Saturday, we’ll have three events, starting with making Christmas ornaments at the Children’s Tent from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Then, we’ll host the No Foolin’ String Band from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a simple supper at 6 p.m. for $8 per person.” Cider on the Porch will also be served on the Wynne Home porch during the Christmas parade from approximately 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. On Sunday, December 8, the Historic Homes Tour will begin at 1 p.m. and continue until 5:00 p.m.; it will include the Wynne Home, the Gibbs Powell House, the Joshua Houston, Jr. Home, The Whistler, the Kellogg-Pritchett Home and the 1831 Log Cabin on University Avenue. At each location, refreshments will be served, and entertainment will be presented. For instance, one can enjoy the Jamison Family Singers at the Kellogg-Pritchett House and have a glass of eggnog. “The Historic Homes Tour promises to be an enlightening feature of our three-day weekend.
