Proclamation No. 2023-4
WHEREAS, the month of May is designated as Brain Tumor Awareness Month; and
WHEREAS, about 25,000 people are diagnosed each year with a primary central nervous system cancer. Primary central nervous system tumors begin in the brain or spinal cord; and
WHEREAS, let us bring the community together to raise awareness and educate people living with brain tumors, in remembrance of Patsy Hill, a lifetime resident of the city of Huntsville.
Patsy was a 3-time 38+ years Cancer Conqueror of brain and spine cancer; and
WHEREAS, the community is encouraged to get involved by sharing information about brain tumors with others beginning in May and continuing all year. The hope is to raise awareness about
the need for clinical studies to advance care and treatments, improving the health of those living with this disease. Together, our voices can improve care; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Andy Brauninger, Mayor of Huntsville Texas,
DO HEREBY PROCLAIM MAY 2023 as
BRAIN TUMOR AWARENESS MONTH
