Proclamation No. 2023-1
/
WHEREAS, Donovan Palma has earned the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America Organization, Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS, Donovan began scouting as a Cub in 2014 and a Boy Scout in 2017. He is with Troop 97, in the Sam Houston Council, in Huntsville Texas; and
WHEREAS, Donovan’s accomplishments include serving his community and church. His Eagle project was building benches for Journey Through Bethlehem, a local production that is put on
by a group of seven local churches. He has been on 45 camping trips across 30 states and national parks. He has hiked and backpacked over one thousand miles and has learned wilderness
survival. He is not only skilled in first aid but first aid disasters, currently working on a troop mobilization plan for disasters such as flood and fire and searching for injured
or trapped people; and
WHEREAS, Donovan will now serve as an Assistant Scoutmaster to help other scouts to reach the rank of Eagle. He is teaching others wilderness survival skills, first aid disaster skills,
and helps his Scoutmaster with Scout’s Own, a worship service at campouts; and
WHEREAS, Donovan exemplifies the values that make a community strong. The City of Huntsville is proud of Donovan; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Andy Brauninger, Mayor of Huntsville Texas,
DO HEREBY CONGRATULATE AND PROCLAIM FEBRUARY 11, 2023, as
DONOVAN PALMA DAY
