A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
AUTHORIZING INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CALMING DEVICES ALONG AVENUE
S BETWEEN 22ND STREET AND IH 45 FRONTAGE ROAD.
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to promote the health, safety and welfare within the city by
reviewing options and action to assist in slowing the speed of motor vehicle traffic in
neighborhoods or reducing the volume of cut-through motor vehicle traffic; and
WHEREAS, residents along Normal Park Drive have asked the City to install Traffic Calming
Devices between 22nd Street and the IH 45 frontage road; and
WHEREAS, the City conducted an engineering study pursuant to applicable engineering
standards which showed that the most effective measure for traffic calming in the proposed area
is installation of speed cushions; and
WHEREAS, the City Council previously by minute order dated August 6, 2013 authorized the
installation of traffic calming devices along Avenue S between 22nd Street and the IH 45 frontage
road;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: The facts and matters set forth in the preamble of this Resolution are found to be
true and correct and are hereby adopted, ratified, and confirmed.
SECTION 2: The engineering study findings that the most suitable device for traffic calming in
the proposed area is speed cushions is found to be acceptable and in the best interest of the City
and the residents of that area and the same is hereby, in all things approved.
SECTION 3. The installation of speed cushions along Avenue S between 22nd Street and the IH
45 frontage road is hereby approved.
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately from and after its passage.
DULY RESOLVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntsville, Texas, on this, the
6th day of August 2013.
