MINUTES FROM THE HUNTSVILLE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON THE 23 DAY OF MAY 2013, IN THE CITY HALL,
LOCATED AT 1212 AVENUE M IN THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, COUNTY OF WALKER, TEXAS, AT 5:00 PM.
The Council met in a regular session with the following:
COUNCILMEMBERS PRESENT: Mac Woodward, Lydia Montgomery, Don H. Johnson, Keith Olson, Joe Emmett, Clyde Loll
COUNCILMEMBERS ABSENT: James Fitch, Tish Humphrey, Ronald Allen (each has placed a Conflict of Interest form on file with the City Secretary for
this workshop)
OFFICERS PRESENT: Matt Benoit, City Manager, Lee Woodward, City Secretary___________________________________________________________
WORKSHOP SESSION [5:30PM]
1. CALL TO ORDER – In the presence of a quorum, the Mayor called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm.
2. DISCUSSION/CONSIDERATION
a. The City Council will consider a presentation and discuss the City’s current employee and retiree health
insurance plan and provisions.
City Manager Matt Benoit and Interim Human Resource Director Missy Davidson used audience response technology
(“clickers”) to show the Council the information and options that will be presented to City employees to aid in making health
insurance plan decisions.
b. The City Council will consider a presentation and discuss the various plan provisions available through the
Texas Municipal Retirement System.
City Manager Matt Benoit presented information on cost-of-living adjustments and updated service credits, their expense to the
City, impact on employees and retirees, and comparisons to similar cities. (This item was handled first.)
3. ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Woodward adjourned the meeting at 7:15 pm.
