Proc. 2020-03 - Robert Rush Day - 10/11/2020 P roclamation N0. 2020-03 WHEREAS Robert Rush is an 18-year-old student at Lone Star College, son of Richard and Michelle Rush, and big brother to Ryan; and WHEREAS Rush graduated from Huntsville Independent School District in 2020, being an active Cub Scout for 5 years in Pack 96 and 98, and achieved 54 belt loops and 37 achievement pins; and WHEREAS Rush served six years in Troop 114 earning Eagle Scout after raising $6,100 to construct a 5-piece set of exercise equipment at Pritchett Field, was the 2019 Josey Scout of the Year recipient, and earned 55 merit badges; and WHEREAS Rush has held leadership roles in the Troop as Den Chief, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Senior Patrol Leader, attended National Youth Leadership Training, and is an Order of the Arrow Brotherhood member; and WHEREAS Rush has canoed over 55 miles in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota, backpacked 75 miles at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, plummeted over waterfalls, climbed glaciers, summited a Swiss Alp, visited 19 states, District of Columbia and five countries on scouting events, walked the beaches of Omaha, Point Du Hoc, and the American Cemetery in Normandy, France, and made many friends, and created countless memories he will cherish for a lifetime.
