RESOLUTION NO. 2010-9
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY" OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
AUTHORIZING THE DISSOLUTION OF THE POLICE PROMOTIONAL REVIEW BOARD
ESTABLISHED BY RESOLUTION 814 ON MARCH 17TH, 1981.
WHEREAS The City Council previously adopted Resolution 81-4 on March 17, 1981 to implement a fair
promotional procedure for the City of Huntsville Police Department and created a panel to
rate candidates for promotion; and
WHEREAS The City Council has determined after review that the City of Huntsville Police Department
has established a new police and procedures manual for the selection and promotion of
officers below the rank ofAssistant Police Chief and that said procedure are fair; and
WHEREAS The Huntsville Police Department is in the process of reviewing its policies and will make
application to the Texas Police Chiefs Association (TPCA) for its program for Best-P—ractices
and have the Huntsville Police Department polices assessed by the TPCA.
NOW,'I1DUEFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TBE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF E[UNTSVILLE,
TEXAS THAT:
1. The findings and declarations contained in the preambles of this Resolution are incorporated herein as
part of this Resolution.
2. The Panel (review board) is hereby disbanded.
3. The Assistant Chief of Police will be selected by and serve at the discretion of the Chief of Police.
4. The Chief of Police is directed to report back to City Council on the application to the TPCA for its
program of Hest Practices.
5. Resolution 81-4 is hereby repealed
6. This Resolution shalt take effect and be in full force and effect upon and after its passage.
