A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, ADOPTING A
MASTER PLAN FOR PARKS AND RECREATION.
WHEREAS The City Council of the City of Huntsville has authorized the preparation of a park and
recreation master plan to inventory park and recreation facilities of the City; to identify and
state goals and objectives for the recreation program for this City; to set out standards of
improvement and concepts; to provide for public input and determine needs for the
development of recreational programs and facilities; to provide methods and timetable for
implementation of a park and recreation enhancement program; and
WHEREAS The attached plan has been completed by City staff and the City's consultant following the
instruction of City Council; and
WHEREAS The plan has been reviewed by the City Council; and
WHEREAS The plan contains a priority list of projects;
NOW THEREFORE be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that:
SECTION 1 The matters set forth in the preamble are true and correct.
SECTION 2 Upon recommendation of City staff, City Council has found the master plan and priority
recommendations contained within to be feasible, justifiable and necessary to adopt this plan
as the plan of action for development and maintenance of park and recreation facilities in
Huntsville, Texas, and hereby instruct the administrative staff to adhere to this master plan
as approved until such time as the Council may choose to amend or extend the master plan.
SECTION 3 This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by City Council.
SECTION 4 City staff is to begin researching methods to implement and fulfill the priority list immediately.
