ORD CC 1980-52 - Territory annexation• ORDINANCE NO. 80- 52 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY THAT LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE; AND MAKING OTHER PROVISIONS RELATED THERETO. WHEREAS, pursuant Ordinance No. 80 -39, a Public Hearing before the City Council of the City of Huntsville, Texas, where all interested persons were provided with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed annexation of the following described property, to -wit: (Area T) BEGINNING at a point where the existing city limit line as annexed the llth day of March, 1969, intersects an East line of Texas Department of Corrections Wynne Unit (515 acres) located in the P. Gray League, A -24; THENCE Southerly with said East line of TDC Wynne Unit property to a point in a South line of the P. Gray League; THENCE Westerly with said South line of the P. Gray League, A -24, to the most Southeasterly corner of R. B..Thomason 522 Acres; THENCE Northerly with common line of R. B. Thomason 522 acres and TDC Wynne Unit 515 Acres to a point of intersection with aforementioned existing city limit line; THENCE Southeasterly with existing city limit line to Point of Beginning. was held at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of the City Hall of the City of Huntsville, Texas, on the 30th day of September, 1980, which date is not more than twenty (20) nor less than ten (10) days prior to the first consideration of this ordinance; and WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in the Huntsville Item, a paper having general circulation in the City of Huntsville, Texas, and Walker County, Texas, on the 18th day of September, 1980, which date was not more than twenty (20) nor less than ten (10) days prior to the date of such public hearing; and AS, the total corporate area of the City of Huntsville, Texas, on the 1st day of January, 1980, was 7738.7 acres; and WHEREAS, the above described property lies within the extraterritorial juris- diction of the City of Huntsville, Texas; and WHEREAS, the above described property lies adjacent to and adjoins the City of. Huntsville, Texas, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS: Section 1: That the following described land and territory lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Huntsville, Texas, is hereby added and annexed to the City of Huntsville, Texas, and the said territory hereinafter described shall hereafter be included within the boundary limits of the City of Huntsville, Texas, and the present boundary limits of the City, at the various points contiguous to the area hereinafter described, are altered and amended so as to include said area within the corporate limits of the City of Huntsville, Texas, to -wit: a 4 a • BECINNING at a point where the existing city limit line as annexed the llth day of March, 1969, intersects an East line of Texas Department of Corrections Wynne Unit (515 acres) located in the P. Gray League, A -24; THENCE Southerly with said East line of TDC Wynne Unit property to a point in a South line of the P. Gray League; THENCE Westerly with said South line of the P. Gray League, A -24, to the most Southeasterly corner of R. B. Thomason 522 Acres; THENCE Northerly with common line of R. B. Thomason 522 acres and TDC Wynne Unit 515 Acres to a point of intersection with aforementioned existing city limit line; THENCE Southeasterly with existing city limit line to Point of Beginning. Section 2: The above described territory and the area so annexed shall be a part of the City of Huntsville, Texas, and the property so added shall bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied by the City of Huntsville, Texas, and the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights and privileges of all of the citizens of Huntsville and shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions, and regulations of the City of Huntsville, Texas.
