ORDINANCE NO..80 -7
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE I, SECTION
2 -2(m) INCORPORATING THE GENERAL COUNCIL SUBPOENA
AND CONTEMPT POWERS INTO THE GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE:
Section 1. That Chapter 2, Article I, Section 2 -2(m)
of the Code of Ordinances for the City of Huntsville be and
the same are hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 2 -2(m) - Pursuant to Section 4.05 of the Home
Rule Charter for the City of Huntsville and this Code
of Ordinances, the City Council shall have power to
administer oaths, subpoena witnesses and compel the
production of books, papers and other evidence material
to the hearing. All subpoenas shall be issued consistent
with the provisions of Chapter 2, Article I, Section 2-
3, inclusive, of this code. Failure to fully comply
with any City Council subpoena shall be punishable
pursuant to the same Code section which section is
incorporated into this grievance procedure as if written
out in full.
Section 2. The Mayor and City Council having passed
this ordinance unanimously upon first reading, same
shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction,
this the day of , 1980, and shall take
effect immediately upon its passage and approval by the
Mayor.
