RESO 2009-20 - Apply for Weatherization Assistance grant, TDHCARESOLUTION NO. 2009-20
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMISSION OF A WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE GRANT APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND HOUSING AFFAIRS ( TDHCA) FOR THE AMERICAN RECOVERY
AND REINVESTMENT ACT WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ACT AS THE CITY'S EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE IN ALL
MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN THE WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE
GRANT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS Energy conservation is important to the City and residents and this grant will allow for low
to moderate homes to be weatherized in order to save energy; and
WHEREAS It is necessary and in the best interest of the City to apply for funding under the 2009
Weatherization Assistance Grant Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that:
SECTION 1: An application is hereby authorized to be filed on behalf of the City and be placed in
competition for funding under the Weatherization Assistance Program.
SECTION 2: The application will be for no more than $750,000.00 of grant funds to implement the
Weatherization Assistance Program.
SECTION 3: The Mayor and City Council strongly support this application to address the need for energy
conservation and weatherization of homes for residents of Huntsville.
SECTION 4: The City Council directs and designates the City Manager, Bill Baine, as the City's Chief
Executive Officer and Authorized Representative to act in all matters in connection with this
application and the City's participation in the TDHCA Weatherization Assistance Program.
