A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMISSION OF SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT GRANT TO THE HOUSTON - GALVESTON AREA
COUNCIL FOR AUTOMATED RECYCLING CARTS; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT AS
THE CITY'S EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE IN ALL MATTERS
PERTAINING TO THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN THE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT GRANT
PROGRAM.
WHEREAS the City desires to ensure the reduction of solid waste entering the landfill and promote
recycling; and
WHEREAS it is necessary and in the best interest of the City to apply for funding under the Solid Waste
Management Grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that:
SECTION 1: A Recycling Grant application is hereby authorized to be filed on behalf of the City and be
placed in competition for funding under the H -GAC Solid Waste Management Grant Funding.
SECTION 2: The application will be for no more than $324,000.00 of grant funds to furnish 5,400
automated carts.
SECTION 3: The Mayor and City Council strongly support this application to promote communitywide
recycling.
SECTION 4: The City Council directs and designates the City Manager, Bill Baine, as the City's Chief
Executive Officer and Authorized Representative to act in all matters in connection with this
application and the City's participation in the Solid Waste Management Grant.
