PROCLAMATION NO.
2015-37
WHEREAS the Walker County Genealogical Society was organized on June 5, 1965; and
WHEREAS we celebrate its fifty years of service and contributions to this community; and
WHEREAS the vision of the founding members was to preserve and maintain a library of
records of the families and history of Walker County, Texas; and
WHEREAS this vision is carried on by the Society members today, and it continues to
encourage the researching and writing of family histories; and
WHEREAS the Society maintains an exceptional room in the Huntsville Public Library,
open and free to the public, and helps educate beginners in the pursuit of
genealogy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as
Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
June 20, 2015
be declared:
Walker County
Genealogical Society Day
in the City of Huntsville, and I urge all citizens to recognize the contribution of the Walker
County Genealogical Society and the vision of its founders.
