PROCLAMATION
NO. 2015-25
WHEREAS the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals’ Association was founded in
1876 and is Texas’ oldest and largest fire association, with the support
of over 1,200 fire departments and 22,000 individual members; and
WHEREAS the association is extremely active in legislative efforts that affect the
fire service in Texas and has been successful in getting legislation
passed which greatly affects the Texas emergency service responders;
and
WHEREAS the East Texas Firemen’s and Fire Marshals’ Association is one of
seventeen District Associations, representing members in twenty-one
counties and fulfilling its charge to Promote, Unify, Represent, and
Educate The Fire Service of Texas; and
WHEREAS the first fire convention was held in Huntsville 86 years ago on
November 8, 1928, at the Gibson Hotel, and we are proud to welcome
them here again today.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the
power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:

be declared: State Firemen's and Fire
Marshals’ Association Day
in the City of Huntsville and call upon our citizens to celebrate this year’s Spring Conference
in our community.
